About Shane Martin

Shane Martin’s musical style can be best described from Nashville EMMY award winning engineer/producer Kenny Royster “Shane is a great singer songwriter on the teetering edge of country, pop, and rock where it's just dangerous enough to be fun,”

Writing and singing straight from the heart about real-life conditions and personal experiences has connected with country and contemporary music fans alike. Shane states “My goal as an artist is to connect and move audiences through my songs and performances"

Shane has been performing around the Minneapolis and Midwest area for over 14 years and has consistently played over 150 performances per year headlining his talent as a solo artist. The singer/songwriter has been called the “One Man Band”. As a solo act he simultaneously plays acoustic guitar, bass pedals and tambourine with his feet, all while singing. Adding in a guitar loop, harmonica and other percussion instruments creates a unique experience and full sound.  Shane also showcases with his full band performing with high energy, experienced musicianship, vocal harmonies, and percussive grooves.

Shane grew up in the small town of Albertville Minnesota which is located 30 miles northwest of Minneapolis and learned early-on the meaning of hard work and family.  Growing up on a dirt road he spent his summers helping out at his uncle's on the Martin family farm.

The singer/songwriter’s musical background started at a young age playing piano and sketching out song ideas. It wasn't long before he picked up his brother's guitar and had a creative connection with playing and singing.  “I would hear melodies, choruses, and song inspirations in my head. I then felt compelled to create and put my thoughts and sounds into a song format,” remembered Shane.  Learning to play guitar by ear he soon found himself starting a rock band with friends from school and practicing to play a few club shows and house parties.

Shane began developing what would become his diverse range and personal style while singing and playing to artists such as U2, The Black Crowes, Edwin McCain, Bon Jovi, and Garth Brooks to name a few. He has gained stage experience with different rock bands throughout his career and found a passion for the subtle honesty of the acoustic guitar, songwriting, and country music.

As an emerging regional talent, the young singer/songwriter self-released his first solo album in 1998, entitled "Moody Waters". This six song acoustic e.p. featured the song "She Could Cry in Heaven", which appeared on the television show "The Young and the Restless". From 2000 – 2003 Shane fronted the group "Faith Nation" and opened for bands such as: Peter Frampton,Styx, REO Speedwagon, The Guess Who, and Great White among others.  The singer/songwriter’s 2005 sophomore release entitled "Thread", co-produced and recorded with Levi Seacer from Prince’s The New Power Generation, featuring the fan favorite “It’s Alright” and the song "White Fences” that was featured on the sound track of a Michael Wilson documentary.

Shane’s latest release "REWIND" was recorded in Nashville with EMMY award winning engineer/producer Kenny Royster. Shane states “I finally found my sound and writing style and started to dig deep into my songs getting back to my small town roots and experiences. It felt natural to write from more of a story telling aspect and modern country style.”

In 2011 Shane performed at Moondance Country Jam in Walker MN, that featured artists such as Dierks Bentley, Sara Evens, Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson, Phil Vassar, Clay Walker, and Josh Thompson. Shane has also shared the stage with Easton Corbin at Toby Keith’s bar in Minneapolis.

Shane continues to commute to Nashville co-writing and performing writer’s nights in between his performing schedule and is looking toward recording a new album in 2012.
